When should you be concerned?
Some skin lesions, like seborrhoeic keratosis, can easily be mistaken for cancerous growths like melanoma. To identify melanoma dermatologists use the ABCDE rule:
-
Asymmetry
-
Irregular Borders
-
Uneven distribution of Colour
-
Large (greater than 6mm) Diameter
-
Finally, pay attention to the Evolution of your moles - know what's normal for your skin and check it regularly for changes.
If you see one or more of these, make an appointment with your GP immediately.
